General Program Information
This dynamic and solutions-focused session brings together educators, school counselors, mental health professionals, FRYSC, SRO, and administrators to explore comprehensive strategies for bullying prevention and student connectedness. Featuring powerful keynote speakers, Dr. Nickerson and Dr. Amy Shutt, sharing what bullying is and personal insight into a districts kindness movement and focus on mental health through storytelling, research, and evidence-based practices. Attendees will then participate in interactive breakout sessions covering a range of topics, including: family engagement; Sources of Strength; PBIS, connectedness and resiliency; cyberbullying; ALONG and other sessions. Participants will leave with practical tools and actionable strategies to promote kindness, equity, and safety in every corner of their schools and communities.
Objectives
- Understand the root causes and impacts of bullying, including the role of trauma, peer dynamics, and social-emotional development.
- Explore the role of family engagement in bullying prevention and develop strategies for building strong school-home partnerships.
- Gain practical tools from the Sources of Strength framework to build resilience, peer support, and mental wellness in student populations.
- Recognize the signs and consequences of cyberbullying and apply proactive digital citizenship strategies to support student safety online.
- Collaborate across roles (teachers, counselors, FRYSC, SRO, administrators) to create a shared culture of safety, respect, and kindness.
