General Program Information
Join PIMSER's Stephanie Harmon and Patti Works for a 3-part series on how we can leverage high impact strategies to support student thinking as we implement science High Quality Instructional Resource (HQIR) in our classrooms. While maximum benefit will be achieved in attending each of the 3 sessions, each session is designed to stand alone. Register for 1 or all. Join us as we build our capacity in implementing a science HQIR.
Objectives
- Session #1 - Questioning & Scientific Discourse We will examine how questioning can be used to probe student thinking, identify common ideas and naive conceptions, and how fostering student discourse supports this.
- Session #2 Enhancing Scientific Writing and Vocabulary Development in the Science Classroom Focused on developing students' ability to write scientifically and authentically integrate scientific vocabulary within their learning experiences.
- Session #3 High Quality Classroom Assessment We will work together to build an understanding of what assessment looks like in a High Quality Instructional Resource and explore ways to support students in these types of assessments.
