Full course description
General Program Information
Many teachers shy away from arranging their own music for their students and ensembles, citing lack of time, knowledge and comfort with copyright law as reasons. The advantages of arrangement include less monetary investment for score purchase and the customization of difficulty and teachable concepts for students learning the repertoire. This course teaches music educators how to efficiently arrange music for their students for any ensemble from free resources online. It also examines what educators can and cannot legally do with their arrangements of copywritten material, so that worries of infringement may be diminished.
Objectives
- Learn how to save a lot of time when arranging custom pieces for students
- Be able to teach ensemble students (almost) whatever they and you want them to play, at whatever level they need, and using concepts they want students to learn
- Thoroughly understand the copyright laws surrounding musical arrangements, including what they can and can't do with them
- Learn what a source is and how to get them quickly, building a digital library of custom arrangements on demand
- Realize unlimited capabilities for arranging anything with a source
