Full course description

General Program Information

Be a master of students' struggles and help them get through any challenge in their piano learning. Just beginning to teach piano? Let this course be your main guide on how to teach them to read pitch and rhythm, set strong habits in posture and hand position, and what to do when encountering other musicianship, reading and repertoire challenges. This course is very helpful for group piano instruction in general music classes.

Objectives

  • Participants will learn what the most common issues are when teaching piano, and how to prevent them from even becoming issues with students.
  • If participants are new to teaching piano, they will be much better equipped to handle students up to the early intermediate level, perhaps beyond, in regard to required instructional concepts.
  • Participants will receive emotionally-neutral critical prompts that students understand clearly, that will not disrupt the positive rapport that has been built.
  • If participants are experienced teachers in group piano, they will refine teaching skills and efficiency, enjoying the day-to-day teaching with fewer frustrations.
