General Program Information
This asynchronous, self-paced webinar series on writing helps educators build a thorough understanding of how to implement evidence-based writing instruction by drawing on the most current research on writing, theoretical models that underpin updated understandings of the factors that enable skilled writing, and best practices for writing instruction. Participants will learn effective instructional practices that will benefit all students, including linguistically diverse populations and those with, or at risk for, language-based learning disabilities. Through engaging with the topics in this series, you will feel more confident in your ability to help your students become skilled writers.
Objectives
Participants will learn about the science of writing, the factors influencing writing, and the developmental expectations for writing. Participants will learn about handwriting, keyboarding, and reading and spelling development. Participants will learn about the importance of syntax, sentence construction, and vocabulary as they apply to writing. Participants will learn about evidence-based strategies and methods for writing instruction.
