VPA | Interactive | Creating Artistic Ideas: Theatre - Character Choices (Grade 7)

In this learning experience, we will explore choices made by a performer during the rehearsal process to illustrate a character’s motivations and objectives. Students will annotate the text of a monologue before watching it rehearsed and refined by an actor with the Appalachian Shakespeare Center at EKU. Once students understand how the rehearsal process impacts performance, they will have the chance to analyze and rehearse their own monologue. They will then be coached by a peer to refine their character before concluding the learning experience by performing in a Festival of Monologues.
